Tips for Players
Obtaining pledges is easy and fun!
Simply enter the e-mail addresses of family, friends and neighbors into the TiViTz Game-a-Thon Fundrai$er system and send your pledge requests. If you’d like additional ideas for generating pledges, try one of these fun tips:
o Send e-mails to family and friends directly through the TiViTz fundraiser website! Follow the easy to understand steps provided in this packet, or call the TiViTz hotline at 877-4-TiViTz for help!
o Call or send a handwritten note and/or a drawing to grandparents, aunts, uncles and other relatives. (Especially great for the little ones!)
o Ask for pledges in person or over the phone. E-mail can be easily deleted, but it is harder for people to say no when asked directly! Collect money on the spot with a promise to play the allotted games or ask for an e-mail address to send the pledge request online.
o Seek corporate or business pledges. Ask the companies you (or your parents) do business with—especially locally owned, mom-and-pop businesses.
o Make the most of social media. Seek pledges through Facebook, Twitter, text or e-mail. One student raised $200 simply by posting the request on his Facebook status! Younger players without access to social media may ask their parents to post a request.
o Challenge a friend or relative to play against you in TiViTz online—then ask for a pledge. Your guest does not have to be registered to the fundraiser to play against you! For help in setting up an online match, call the TiViTz hotline at 877-4-TiViTz.
o Host a mini-TiViTz tournament at your home and invite friends from other schools. Play a series of games online, or purchase a TiViTz board game at school and have several TiViTz games in the works at the same time. Serve “T-themed” snacks such as iced tea, Triscuits, tortillas or Twizzlers! Ask for pledges as a “registration fee.”
o Host a pizza party for your classmates or other friends, and “charge” $10 or more in admission, a.k.a. TiViTz pledges! Encourage your classmates to host their own parties with other themes such as ice cream social, bounce house, slip and slide, old-fashioned games, movie night, etc.
o Parents, get more mileage out of your personal pledge to your child. Offer additional pledges for household chores such as folding laundry, washing the car, doing the dishes—whatever is age appropriate and needs to get done!
o Offer a small gift or enticement with each pledge, such as a bag of candy or a homemade treat. Or hold a lemonade stand, bake sale or yard sale and set up a TiViTz display to ask for pledges at the same time.
